About us...
I'm Lucy Lowther, the founder of Howardian Helpers. I started my business over five years ago after having nearly lost my mum. This experience enabled me to understand the panic and fear families feel when they have a loved one who needs help and support. With busy lives, jobs, and children it's a relief to know that there is a trusted local service to help and support you and your family.
We are a vital and invaluable home help service specialising in early intervention prevention. We offer a wide range of services to support both the elderly and vulnerable in need. We enable our clients to foster, maintain and cherish their independence, empowering them in their day to day living both at home and beyond. We have helped numerous families throughout North Yorkshire and continue to do so

Our highly skilled team strongly value the relationships, trust and rapport we build with our clients. We all work and live in the community that we serve and have strong links with other vital community services such as GP services, District Nurses, Councils and Charities like NYCC, Dementia Forward and Living Well. We see Howardian Helpers as a critical resource to our local community and are passionate about making a difference to people’s lives. We are all enhanced DBS checked, have clean driving licenses, and can also provide references.
We have extensive understanding and experience in looking after clients with dementia and specialise in the specific help these clients require. We also have experience of many other ailments and conditions that growing older or being vulnerable brings.
What’s important though is that we offer friendship and compassion as well as a range of practical tasks tailored to the individual client. Please take a look at some examples of the services we offer

We cover The Howardian Hills and surrounding towns and villages focusing on Easingwold and we go as far as Thirsk, Helmsley, Malton and York, serving rural communities and villages. Please get in touch if we haven't mentioned your area.

OUR RANGE OF
Howardian Helpers are committed to giving an exceptional quality of service tailored to each individual client.
Some examples of our services include Help with medication, cooking and meeting nutritional needs, cleaning and tidying homes, washing and ironing clothes, driving clients to appointments, Internet and iPad assistance, admin tasks, organising workmen or handymen, walking and cleaning dogs, cleaning cars, everyday cooking and we have even been known to cook for dinner parties and assemble flat pack furniture. No two days are the same. We also love simply sitting with a cuppa for a bit of companionship.
Whilst we do not currently offer personal care we do offer daily or weekly visits seven days a week, respite holiday cover and overnight stays seven days a week.

We do not take a 'one size fits all' approach. Our client centred ethos means we understand each person is as individual as their own specific needs. That is why our huge range of services are personally tailored to each of our clients.
We pride ourselves in going above and beyond our clients’ aspirations exceeding their expectations and desires. It is our utmost priority to form trusting relationships and nurture you or your family in every way possible to make your life easier. “From the first time I was introduced to Lucy Lowther through mutual friends and I knew immediately that she would be able to help my family. My father, aged 86 years and fiercely independent was in need of additional housekeeping support and a daily hot meal. I met Lucy for a coffee in Easingwold and we worked out an immediate plan and then a long term solution. She was so positive and so understanding, having had a similar experience in her family. I took her to meet my father who really warmed to her. I was relieved that my father’s situation could be hugely improved as I live in Oxfordshire, nearly 200 miles away and my sister lives overseas.
Lucy’s support to my father at home ended quickly when he was admitted to hospital but Lucy and her team continued to look after his house and make it look lived in. I found very quickly that nothing was too much trouble and her attention to detail was outstanding. Lucy kept the house how my father would have wanted it and always made sure that any problems were quickly resolved. She answers emails, telephone calls and messages instantly. Her team arranged for deliveries and arranged for a variety of cleaning and decorating services. Her knowledge of local businesses and suppliers was invaluable and she was incredibly supportive when my father died in hospital. Lucy assisted with the preparation of the house sale and disbursement of the contents. She has even redirected post to me. She sensitively handled relationships with my father’s neighbours and future house purchasers on our behalf.
Her talents are so many that it is impossible to list them all. I would say in summary that she is a totally honest person who you would like to have in your life supporting you in a time of need. Finally, she has great sense of humour which is often needed.
